Do you remember when Obamacare was first introduced as Hillarycare? I remember, and I was between 10 and 12 years old at the time.

The democrats held a 12-seat advantage in the Senate, an 82-seat majority in the House of Representatives, and a had a star-studded (no pun intended) first-term President with charm and charisma like seemingly none before him. Things couldn’t possibly have been any better for the Democrats.

Then Hillarycare reared its ugly head, and less than two years following Clinton’s election when the Democrats held the legislative majorities listed above, the Republicans completely swept the ‘94 mid-term elections, regaining control of both legislative bodies.

The House saw 56 Congressional seats change hands (112 total votes, negating the massive 82-vote majority previously held by the Democrats). When the dust had settled, the Republicans had gained 12 seats in the Senate to claim a 56-44 majority, the same advantage held by the Dems just before the ‘94 election.

The only difference between then and now, is that Obama, unlike Clinton, will not be elected to a second term in office.
